Catching Up

Well it has been a very busy few weeks at school. There was an outbreak of Fifth's Disease at school which has resulted in me being moved out of my building and away from the students who have been exposed. It has been hard getting my job done but the principal has been very accommodating.

Craig worked very hard getting the closet ready for the baby and we put in some of the clothes we had bought/received and it looked like this:

Thursday was a big day for us and Baby. We had a work shower at school. It was early because many people had today as their last day. Craig was the sweetest and came by the shower on his way to a conference call. He stayed, opened a few gifts, and loaded the heavy things in the car. What I quickly learned is that women love to buy baby girls clothes. We got a few things off the registry but mostly clothes. You can see how generous my co-workers are:

Craig and I got home totally overwhelmed with all her gifts. Then we got a call saying we won a $100 Home Depot gift card. Later that night while sitting on the couch for the first time at 28W6D Craig finally felt Baby move. How lucky are we? I finally put all the clothes in her closet and the semi-empty closet now looks like this:

Craig had described my baby bump as being adorably noticeable. I thought this was cute so I caved and let him take a photo which I promised to post. I promised this even though it was taken 5 minutes before bedtime after a really hot day and I did not feel adorably noticeable at all. Noticeable-Yes Adorable-No.

Double Digits Again!

Way back at the beginning of the pregnancy I posted how excited I was to hit 10 weeks and be in "double digits". I have a pregnancy/parenting website that I visit frequently and today the ticker said 99 days left. I am back in double digits as we countdown to the baby's arrival. While I am excited I am freaked out about how much we still need to get done in 99 short days.

Belly Movement

For weeks the baby has been playing a game with Craig. She will be turning somersaults and kicking away and the moment I replace my hands on my belly with Craig's...nothing. The baby instantly freezes. Maybe she doesn't like us playing tricks on her or maybe she requires we do some Indiana Jones-esque transfer where we keep hand heat, size, and pressure the same.

Well proof that the little one is getting stronger her kicks now make my stomach move. I was typing away on the computer and the movement was really noticeable. Craig was sitting right next to me and he was staring at the belly, he missed the next movement because the Padres highlights were on SportCenter. I guess as they say the third time is the charm (and Padre highlights/low lights were done) and we got to have a moment as we AWWWWED over our little one's kicking prowess.

Move to the Right

Yep. Move to the right, all the way to the right. I have cleared the last hurdle to get in the last salary column for the school district. I have had enough credits to be in the last column for years but up until now I did not have the Masters Degree.

Today I went on-line to get my grade and found out that I got an A on my Masters! Woo-Hoo! This will give me a really nice boost to my salary just in time to take the year off to be a stay at home mommy.

Either way we can now say that the baby has very educated parents with a Mom with a MA in Special Education and a Dad with a MBA.

24 Week Appointment

This week I had a routine appointment. So routine that Craig got to skip it. I thought it would be the standard weight, blood pressure, heartbeat, and questions. It pretty much was except the scale in the Dr's office showed that I had a 14 pound weight gain in 4 weeks! My scale at home and the Dr scaled have been within a pound of each other the entire pregnancy and I was expecting about a 3 pound gain, so when she told me what it was I was in denial. Since I was the first appointment of the day they had no other complaints of the scale being off, but I am sure that it was.

The "rapid" weight gain plus the swelling I have been having raised the pre-eclampsia flag and there was some worry. As always my blood pressure was perfect and they tested for proteins and I was clear...my swelling are just cankles. My baby bump is a perfect size for how far along I am and the baby's heart is beating right where it should be.

I find this part funny, in light of my weight gain it was suggested that I cut back on fruit. Okay...they assume that fruit is the worst culprit in my diet. They should be telling me to cut back on the Cheez-its and frozen yogurt. No. Instead I am told that I should stop eating watermelon because it is so sugary. Alrighty then, I'll skip the watermelon and go straight to the fro yo.

Seriously I have upped the water intake and it seems to have flushed a few pounds away. I think being away and eating out the long weekend paired with long driving spells that prohibited the drinking of water didn't help any. At the same time I am convinced that the DR. scale is WRONG!
