There is a website out there where a "psychic" makes predictions about your birth based on some simple questions. Obviously it is for entertainment purposes only.
We had some disagreements about the weather is it fair or cloudy? Based on fair weather outside this is what we learned about the birth of our little one:
What she senses for you. The day you deliver, outside will be breezy. Your baby will arrive in the wee hours. After a labor lasting approximately 11 hours, your child, a boy, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 11 pounds, 6 ounces, and will be 21 inches long. This child will have dark brown eyes and brown hair and almost be bald.
But there is more. I sense that you feel somewhat alone. Have faith; you are not alone. Why don't you visit message boards and talk to other expectant mothers? I'm sure you will find you have much in common..
Since I was totally freaked out (11 1/2 pounds!) at this point we tried cloudy weather and got this:
What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be sunny. Your baby will arrive in the morning. After a labor lasting approximately 8 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 13 ounces, and will be 19-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and dark hair.
But there is more. Although you may feel tired, your pregnancy will be over before you are truly ready to let go of having this precious baby you have all to yourself. I sense that you will look back and long for these days. I suggest doing something now to preserve some memories of this time. Many women enjoy making a belly cast. Perhaps you would be interested, too.
Obviously the weather makes a big difference, and we are still no closer to answering the question if we are having a boy or a girl.

Update
It has been about a week since I have posted so I figured it was about time to update everyone with what has been going on.
We had a wonderful Easter my Mom came down for the week and took good care of us. She cooked food and organized the house; she's nesting more than we are! The weather here has been beautiful and we got an outdoor dining table and chairs so we can enjoy our backyard through the spring and summer.
While all these good things were happening there was also some sad and worrisome things happening.
1. During the NT Scan on the 14th they found another bleed. The Dr. had felt that this one would not be reabsorbed and that I would naturally pass it. Well I did for 6 days. I called the Dr.s office and they did not seem as concerned as I was/am. We have our next appointment next week and I am really looking forward to hearing that heartbeat again.
2. This probably deserves it's own post but I am just going to include it here. Our family pet goldfish Pescado passed away on Monday. He was a few months shy of his 7th birthday. I can confidently say that he was likely the lone survivor of the 2001 Del Mar Fair. I still remember Julie pointing him out because he was so active and we took him home.
He was more than a fish and my brother Kevin was sure that he was a dog. He would know when people entered the room and would know when you picked up his food container. He loved to get a mouth full of gravel and spit it out into Spongebob's net.
He had not been his normal active self the last few weeks and I suspected that something was wrong. He stopped eating and was more skittish when people approached his tank. He was such a special part of our family and deserved more than a flush so he got a proper burial in the backyard.

Good News!
Last week we did our NT Scan which checks for Downs Syndrome and Trisomy 13 &18. We got the results today and it looks right now we have a healthy baby. Of course there is still a blood screen to do to check for other genetic issues.
Based on age and family history we had a 1:400 risk of Downs. The results indicate that we now have a 1:3245 chance.
Based on age and family history we had a 1:765 risk of Trisomy 13 & 18. Based on the scan and the blood our risk is now 1:10,000.
The genetic counselor said I have gone from having the risk of a 33 year old, down to the numbers of a 20 year old!

Don't Bother Me, I'm Napping!

Well if our baby could speak this is what it would be telling me today. After 3 ultrasounds revealing a VERY active baby today the baby was sleeping. It would not have been a problem but I was having a NT Scan today. I am not sure what the T stands for but the N is for Nuchal which is the skin fold at the back of the neck, this measurement along with a blood sample is a way of checking for certain genetic disorders.
Not only was the baby sleeping it was sleeping face down and the ultrasound tech could not get the image that she needed. Initially it was pretty funny. I was making comments that the baby must take after Craig because it is still sleeping at 11:00. We thought it was funny when the baby moved its' arm to cover the face, as you can see in the picture. After about 15 min with no cooperation she was using the ultrasound wand to pound on my stomach to encourage the baby to turn. You would see the baby shake and then...nope not going to move. At one point my very full bladder had the baby on its' head. The tech thought if I emptied my bladder the baby would have enough room to go all the way around. I emptied the bladder and did some toe touches and hopped back on the table, all that extra room only allowed the little one to go back to sleeping face down on its' stomach.
The ultrasound tech tried everything, empty bladder, full bladder, left side, right side, toe touches, walking, and stairs. Finally after an hour of trying she said she would work through her lunch to get the shot. She asked for 15 min to get a snack and ordered me to walk. Came back hopped on the table and wouldn't you know it baby had flipped and appeared to be awake. Once in the right position it took about 10 minutes to get everything she needed.
Baby is measuring right on schedule and I am 30.1% done with my pregnancy. The doctor said that the Nuchal is measuring within the normal range but we still have to wait for the results. I am just glad that the 90 minute ultrasound is over and I hope I don't bruise from all the pushing. Lesson learned don't try to wake a sleeping baby.

Baby's First Concert
Growing up I was exposed to lots of music. With older brothers a Dad with a taste for jazz and irish music and a Mom who listened to ABBA I heard just about everything. Craig on the other hand didn't really learn about music until college (or so he says). I think that this little one will have a lot of music growing up. Seeing some of the CD's in Craig's collection and knowing some of the shows that he has been to, we started talking about our first concerts; here are the family stats:
Me: Morrissey on Halloween Night 1991 (Shoreline Amphitheater)
Craig: Sting with Concrete Blonde (Sports Arena)
Baby: Angels and Airwaves (Soma)
It was so loud in there I am convinced that the baby must have wondered what was happening around it. Craig had bought the ticket before we were expecting and he was really looking forward to going. I wasn't sure that I was going to make it because I would be going from work, to school, to concert all without a nap. Well I made it and slept very well last night.

Some-kind of birthday to me!
Well this weekend was not the best weekend to have a birthday, especially me since I take joy in my birthday. While I sat on the couch Craig did the best that he could trying to keep my mind somewhere else and encouraging me to get out in the wonderful weather we were having this weekend.
Before all this had happened I had been craving banana cake. My Mom would make banana cake when we were growing up and I just wanted it. Well there is a "fru-fru" bakery in La Jolla that makes this very type of cake and since Craig always listens to what I say he had ordered one well before the baby drama began. While I was not up for a big dinner my brother and Craig's parents came over to sing and have some cake.
The cake was delicious! Even Craig enjoyed it which is something because it has cream cheese frosting.

Baby: 1 On-Call Doctor: 0
Well after all the worry and tears it appears as if the on-call doctor was wrong. We "crashed" the doctors office this morning and they got us in very quickly. As far as our doctor was concerned she didn't seem to have any doubts that she would be finding a happy baby and she was right.
The ultrasound showed an EXTREMELY active baby who has taken up the hobby of trying to master a flip in utero. The doctor said at this point all we have to worry about is how we are going to keep up with such an active little one once it is born. Until then I will have to turn over my softball sitter duties.
So the calls, which were put on hold, will continue to share our good news!

Waiting is NOT fun
Well this week has brought the highest highs to the lowest lows. Right now we are in a holding pattern waiting to get into the Doctor tomorrow. Since this blog was designed to record everything that happens we need to share the scary as well. On Friday night I started to bleed. Craig and I were ready to pick up and head to the ER but ended up not going when I did not meet the criteria to go. The bleeding was resolved in about 2 hours and have not have anything else this weekend.
While the Dr. on call was not positive we are taking some comfort in small things. The bleed resolved quickly, we did not meet criteria of going to the ER for a miscarriage, and my pregnancy symptoms have continued. So while we will not know anything for cetain until Monday but we are hopeful that Monday will bring good news.

A Happy Pear (or is it pair?)
Well needless to say Craig and I are still trying to comprehend the good news from yesterday. Many people think because of my job that I am a patient person, but I have been anything but patient waiting for that last appointment.
While there was some worry and negative thoughts from time to time I continued to look for signs from the universe. Well yesterday morning I opened the refrigerator and there it was; the happy pear.
While I know that it looks man made it was not. It was a good sign because we definitely a happy pair a few hours later.

"It looks like you're out of the woods"

This was the best thing that we could have heard at our second appointment today. We were able to see the baby and it moving around. In the few minutes it was on the screen it was floating around kicking, waving, flipping. Basically it looked like it was having a really good time showing off for Mom and Dad. The Doctor said everything looked good and the bleed was resolved so I can slowly resume my exercise program.
The doctor did not measure the baby so we will go with the first date that we were given of September 19th. The picture is a little strange since she snapped it as the baby turned its' head to look at us and the rest of the body got cut off. If you look closely at the pic you can see where the two eyes, nose, and mouth. You can even see a little leg.
Current Stats (Sorry All about Mom)
We are 11w4d
Weight Gain Mom: Zero Dad:Not sure he just got back from a pastry eating tour of Europe
Nausea: Pretty much all day except morning (go figure)
Likes: Bean Burritos, Frozen Yogurt, Fruit, Potatoes
Dislikes: Meat, Raw Veggies
As much as I wanted to come home and call everyone I know and send out mass emails, Craig is being more reasonable. He wants to wait until we "officially" hit the 12 week mark before letting people know. I assume that many of you will get the call this weekend. Grandma Enid is also excited. We called the parents today to let them know that everything was going well and Craig said he could hear her in the back saying, "Can we tell people?" One more week and I think the news will be pretty public.
