Update on Natalie
We had a bit of a scare with Natalie in December. On the 14th we woke up to find that Natalie was spitting up blood. After a lengthy Dr. visit and many tests it was hypothesized that Natalie is allergic to something in my diet that she is ingesting. Since Natalie had not gained much weight, 5 ounces in 4 weeks, and was spitting up so much they put her on a diet of solely formula. She has been responding well and putting on weight, one pound in 2 weeks. Currently I have removed all dairy from my diet in hopes that I will be able to feed her again. I did try feeding her one meal a day after a two week success with the formula but she soon started spitting up blood once again. We have another appointment in a few weeks and we will see what happens. It may mean that I have to remove other possible allergens like eggs and nuts from the diet. Kids with cow protein allergies usually end up developing other food allergies so we will have to watch her once we start solid food. She continues to respond to the formula and is very happy.
